Netflix’s hit show “Squid Game” faced an embarrassing production error in its latest season after viewers spotted a cameraman accidentally appearing in a crucial scene.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed the blunder during a tense sequence in the final episode of the second series, which premiered on the streaming platform on Boxing Day. The crew member was visible in the background during an intense moment between the remaining players and guards, where Player 001, Young-il, revealed himself as the Front Man.
The scene in question shows a dramatic confrontation where players outsmart the guards by feigning defeat before mounting a counterattack. In an unexpected twist, Young-il, who had appeared to be one of Gi-hun’s closest allies, turns against his own soldiers.
While many viewers were absorbed in player 456’s fate, others couldn’t help but notice the production error. The cameraman appeared briefly in a clip where a guard attempted to outmaneuver the players’ defenses.
Fans quickly took to social media to point out the mistake. One viewer commented on X: “Someone is getting fired from the Squid Games team after one of the cameramen was spotted in the background mid episode.”
Another fan wrote: “Someone noticed the cameraman caught in this scene of episode 7, around 22 minutes and 38 seconds 😭😭.”
The production error adds to the challenges facing the show’s second season, which has received mixed reactions from viewers. Many fans have expressed disappointment on social media, describing the new installment as “boring” and “predictable.”
Meanwhile, Netflix has already begun teasing season three, releasing a short clip featuring a new doll named Chul-su alongside the existing Young-hee character. The teaser reveals motion-detecting sensors in Young-hee’s eyes and introduces Chul-su with an eerie smile, setting up anticipation for the next installment expected in 2025.
Despite briefly posting and then deleting information about the release date, Netflix has confirmed that “Squid Game” will return for a third season, though the production error has certainly given fans something unexpected to discuss in the meantime.
