(Video) Horrifying knockout by Mingyang renders Tokkos unconscious for full two minutes

The Road to UFC tournament in Singapore just finished its first and second episodes. Besides the tournament fights, there are also non-tournament bouts. One of them is the light heavyweight bout between Zhang Mingyang and George Tokkos that opened the first episode.

The British athlete,  Tokkos was highly regarded as a future UFC contender even though he’s never been in the UFC before. He is currently training at the famous Sanford MMA academy along with names like Michael Chandler and Gilbert Burns.

‘Tuco’ Tokkos was a huge -675 favorite coming into the light heavyweight showdown against Zhang, who was a +450 heavy underdog. With those odds, Tokkos became the biggest favorite on the fight card.

The underdog Zhang clearly wanted to prove himself to the world – he put Tokkos on his back foot since the beginning of the fight. Both traded big punches mid-round after a period of clinching.

Heading into the final minute of the first round, it is clearly shown that Zhang was having the upper hand. The already-bloodied Tokkos also began to be more careful and take more time circling Zhang.

However, a thunderous right hook from Zhang put the British out cold. To make sure the job was done, Zhang also landed several ground and pound strikes on Tokkos’s unconscious face until the referee stops him. Many noted that the referee was uncomfortably far and allowed for Tokkos to take more damage than necessary.

With the win, the ‘Mountain Tiger’ successfully opened the whole tournament with a bang. This victory also keeps his record to finish all of his opponents in the first round intact.

The showdown between Zhang and Tokkos opened the Road to UFC tournament episode 1 fight card.

Later in the episode, Korean flyweight Seungguk Choi outpointed Indonesian BJJ expert Rama Supandhi. Japan also scored its first victory with Toshiomi Kazama getting a UD win over China’s Maimaitituoheti Keremuaili.

Next up, Korean lightweight WonBin Ki delivered a TKO win over Jinnosuke Kashimura at lightweight, and China’s Yi Zha submitted Shooto champion Keisuke Sasu on the final fight of the episode.
