UFC rising star Ian Garry had a friendly encounter with Gilbert Burns’ child at the recent UFC 290 event. Garry allowed the child to apply a RNC until he tapped out.
Ian Garry attended UFC 290 event at the T-Mobile Arena last weekend, alongside other well-known UFC athletes. The Irishman had the opportunity to meet Gilbert Burns, a top contender in the welterweight division, who was accompanied by his family.
It should be mention that both are training at Killcliff, formerly known as Sanford MMA in Miami.
Despite the possibility of a future clash between them, both showed courtesy and respect. Garry even engaged in a playful interaction with Burns’ son, Josh.
In a video shared by Burns, Garry can be seen giving Josh a piggyback ride. Burns then instructs his son to apply a RNC on Garry. Following his father’s guidance, Josh skillfully locks in a RNC. Garry playfully acted as if he were in pain and eventually tapped out.
Ian Garry is quickly making a name for himself in the MMA world, with some comparing him to the renowned Conor McGregor. Garry gained attention in May after his victory over Daniel Rodriguez at UFC on ABC 4. The 25-year-old impressed fans with his performance, becoming the first fighter to finish Rodriguez with a technical knockout in the first round.
With this win, Garry maintains an undefeated record of 12 victories. He has also climbed the welterweight rankings and currently holds the third position. In his upcoming clash, Garry is scheduled to face Geoff Neal, ranked eighth in the division. Their clash is set to take place at UFC 292 in August.
Garry and Neal have developed a heated rivalry, with Garry wearing a t-shirt featuring Neal’s mugshot, which went viral and even elicited a response from Neal’s father. Meanwhile, Joaquin Buckley attempted to engage Garry on social media with a post involving Garry’s wife.
The short video depicted an edited picture of Garry’s wife surrounded by four adult film actors, insinuating that she had engaged in relations with them. Fans strongly disapproved of Buckley’s action, considering it to be crossing the line and lacking class.
