(Video) First footage of Masvidal altercation with Covington released

The footage was shot at around 11:30 p.m. ET … roughly half an hour after sources tell us Covington and Masvidal got into a physical altercation outside of Papi Steak in Miami Beach.

Following the altercation the police was called. This set off a tweeting spree from Masvidal’s manager who went on to accuse the Nelk boys of ‘snitching’. One of the men who was with Masvidal and had shared the location they were at the time is Full send podcasts’ Bob Menery. Menery was among the witnesses and allegedly filed an incident report.

Oddly Kawa went on to delete said tweet. Since then new information has come to light and confirmed what Masvidal appeared to announce himself – Covington did indeed break one of his teeth during the altercation.  An initial report of the scuffle was posted by Fox Sports Radio’s Andy Slater.

Masvidal allegedly instigated the incident by saying “You shouldn’t have been talking about my kids,”.

As to how the incident even happened – it turns out Masvidal wore a surgical mask and a hoodie and approached Covington along with his entourage at a Miami beach steakhouse. The video shows a hooded figure approach Covington from the back and sucker punch him.

Covington is said to have run back into the steakhouse after multiple other men tried to get involved. At that point Covington called the police and reported he suffered a fracture to his front left tooth, an abrasion to the wrist and damage to his wristwatch.

Police documents list Masvidal as a suspect and describe incident as felony battery.

In Florida, Felony Battery is any intentional and unconsented touching or striking, which results in great bodily harm to another person or which occurs after a previous conviction for battery. The offense is a third degree felony, with maximum penalties of up to 5 years in prison.

It’s likely Masvidal would plead down the incident to a misdemeanor.  It’s doubtful Masvidal would try and declare himself innocent due to the fact he all but directly bragged on social media.
