(Video) Canelo Alvarez Builds His Perfect Boxer and Mike Tyson doesn’t even make the cut

Boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez recently revealed who would make up his “perfect” boxer, drawing from some of the greatest names in the sport’s history. The undisputed super middleweight champion was asked to choose the best attributes from different fighters to construct his ideal boxer.

For the powerful right hand, Alvarez opted for Tommy Hearns, stating the legendary “Hitman” had “one of the best right hands that I have ever seen.” His pick for the left hand went to Mexican icon Julio César Chávez Sr.

When it came to sheer punching power, Alvarez named two hard-hitting all-time greats – Roberto Durán and George Foreman. “Best power – Durán or Foreman,” he said.

The nimble footwork of former multi-weight world champion Pernell Whitaker caught Alvarez’s eye for that crucial aspect. As for having an intelligent boxing brain, he pointed to Floyd Mayweather’s renowned ring IQ as the standard.

Remarkably, Alvarez chose himself when it came to having an iron chin. “Chin, I think me,” the 33-year-old Mexican said confidently.

Alvarez’s choices highlight his deep respect for the boxing greats that came before him, while also showing his self-belief from decades of excellence in the ring. His ability to analyze and break down the traits that make up an elite fighter demonstrates his profound understanding of the sweet science.

The pound-for-pound king recently displayed his own well-rounded brilliance once again, defending his undisputed super middleweight titles against Jaime Munguia on May 4th in Las Vegas. Despite a tough challenge from his undefeated countryman, Alvarez’s skill and determination earned him a unanimous decision victory to extend his remarkable professional record to 61-2-2.
