Throughout the bout, Mbilli significantly hurt Murdock on multiple occasions. Despite facing adversity, Murdock displayed remarkable resilience. He refused to succumb to Mbilli’s relentless assault.
The intensity escalated in round four when Murdock absorbed a powerful right hand, causing his mouthpiece to soar out of the ring and prompting a temporary halt in the action. Following the mouthpiece’s replacement, Murdock valiantly resumed the match.
Because of how unfairly one-sided the fifth round was, Murdock’s trainer cautioned him that he could stop the match himself.
As the sixth round concluded, Mbilli made a decisive breakthrough which signalled the inevitable outcome of the bout.
Murdock’s trainer made a smart choice when he decided to end the bout before the seventh round could start.
With this victory, Christian Mbilli extends his undefeated record to 26-0. This includes an impressive tally of 22 knockouts. Notably, he now holds the position as the number one contender in both the WBA and WBC super-middleweight rankings.
Canelo Alvarez is the current undisputed champion in the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO divisions. Expressing his aspirations, Mbilli stated: “Tonight I sent a message. I am the future of the division. I know Canelo is the best, everyone knows Canelo is the best, now I want to show I’m the best.”
“My goal is to fight Canelo, I will do everything I can do to fight Canelo, let’s go.”
Christian Mbilli’s commanding performance against Rohan Murdock not only solidifies his position in the super-middleweight landscape but also sets the stage for a potential showdown with the iconic Canelo Alvarez.
