(Video) Belal Muhammad explains how Khabib humiliated him in training without meaning to

Belal Muhammad recently spoke about his training under UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov. The UFC welterweight described the unorthodox training methods of the 2022 MMA coach of the year on the Joe Rogan Experience.

He described a particular incident in which he sparred with the former UFC lightweight champ and was humiliated. Belal told Rogan that Khabib loves to joke around and talk to his gym mates during when he’s dominating a sparring session. This is something we could previously observe in videos of Khabib rolling with Luke Rockhold.

“He’s just like laughing as he’s talking to the guys outside of the cage… And I’m feeling like, disrespected. But like, this is the Khabib.”

Belal also talked about the differences in training with Islam Makhachev and Khabib. He said that Islam is like any regular teacher who instructs you and expects you to follow. Meanwhile, Khabib is more hardcore and teaches you as you’re sparring.

“Islam is nice. He’ll tell you what you need to do and you need to do this way. And, he’ll show me the technique with it.”

“When Khabib’s on top of you, he’s like breaking me at every single point… and he’s like, ‘No brother. You just got to keep going.’”

Belal talked about how different it is to train with Dagestanis.

“I feel like, when Khabib walks into the room, it’s like an army. We all get up, we all stand in line, he’ll stand in line, he’ll point to who’s sparring hard in the cage,”

He said that they do all forms of training every day instead of designating special days for each form.

“It’s a different type of sparring too, where normally we have a sparring day, in Chicago or in most teams that I’ve trained at, we’ll have a sparring day on Monday or Wednesday.”

“Whereas, for them, they’re doing everything every day. Small glove sparring every day, then right after that, you’re taking off the gloves and you’re grappling every day. Then right after that, you’re going into the cage, wrestling out the cage, every single day.”
