Demetrious Johnson Was SURPRISED After Michael Bisping Told Him There Hasn’t Been A Knockout In Women’s Championship Match In Over 5 Years

Demetrious Johnson found himself at a loss for words during a recent episode of the JAXXON Podcast when Michael Bisping dropped a statistic about women’s championship matches that even the flyweight icon didn’t see coming.

The moment came while Johnson, Bisping and TJ Dillashaw were breaking down Mackenzie Dern’s dominant title defense against Gillian Robertson. The panel was dissecting why Dern, despite looking sharper than ever on the feet, kept opting to pursue submissions rather than finishing the fight on the feet.

“I think maybe… No, you’re not an a**hole. You raised some very good points. I mean, let’s be honest, there hasn’t been a knockout in a women’s title fig ht in 5 years,” Bisping said.

Johnson’s reaction was immediate. “Holy s**t,” he responded, clearly caught off guard by the stat.

Bisping continued, pointing out the physical realities behind the trend. “Yeah, there’s been submissions, but no knockouts, you know. And listen, they’re women at 115 pounds (52 kg). They’re not men.”

Host Bear Degidio pushed back slightly, suggesting Dern actually had the tools to be the one to snap that streak.

“Mackenzie could have done it, but I feel like every time she…,” he started, before Bisping jumped in.

“No, no, Mackenzie could have done it had she have committed to that game plan, but she wanted she wanted to submit her. She wanted to like, you know, prove a point,” Bisping said.

The exchange fed into a broader conversation about Dern’s performance, which the panel largely agreed was the best of her career. Dillashaw praised the technical improvement in her striking, crediting her return to coach Jason Parillo.

“Especially how much better her boxing looked like flowers to coach Parillo. I’m so glad he she’s back with him again because like her head, body, head looked good. She wasn’t overthrowing punches,” Dillashaw said.
