Rising UFC bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley has expressed his interest in facing WBA lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis. This comes after Davis won his match against Ryan Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. O’Malley remains confident that he can outdo the undefeated puncher and is looking forward to the opportunity to compete against him.
Gervonta Davis knocked Ryan Garcia out in the seventh round with a body blow. He rocked the former interim WBC lightweight champion with a counter left hook in the second round of their highly-anticipated main event bout, sending him to the floor.
After repeatedly putting pressure on Garcia’s body throughout the match, Davis connected with a right blow to Garcia’s body in the seventh round. Davis knocked Garcia backward and finally dropped him to the floor. Garcia missed the 10-count and lost the match.
After his match, Davis caught the attention of Sean O’Malley. He believes that he can take down the knockout puncher. O’Malley tweeted: “Walk out was hard. Still feel like I piece him (Gervonta Davis) low key.”
Sean O’Malley is currently the #2 ranked bantamweight contender. He has a 16-1(1) professional MMA record. He most recently secured a close decision win over former undisputed champion Petr Yan in the co-main event of UFC 280 back in October of last year.
O’Malley claims that he has been guaranteed a shot at bantamweight title next. He is eagerly awaiting next month’s bantamweight title matchup between champion Aljamain Sterling and former two-weight champion Henry Cejudo at UFC 288.
Additionally, O’Malley addressed Pimblett’s eating condition after commenting on some of his recent images. On his podcast, O’Malley stated: “I’ve seen a video today of Paddy smoking a joint on a boat. Is that recent?… Bro, this blew my mind, how fat he looked. I don’t know if it was like a recent one or it was something that was posted a long time ago.”
“But dude, I was like, ‘Holy sh*t!’ He’s living. He’s enjoying life… I wish we could find this video of Paddy. If someone’s seen it, they’ll know what I’m talking about. He looked thick, dude. Like, bigger than I’ve ever seen him… I bet he hits 220 [pounds].”
