UFC’s Jeff Molina slams ‘homophobic’ fans DMing him after he showed support for Pride Month

UFC flyweight Jeff Molina has praised the UFC for allowing their fighters to celebrate Pride month by wearing Pride colors on their fight kit. While at it, he also poked fun at fans who have an issue with that.

The LGBTQ+ community has celebrated June as a Pride month to commemorate the struggles they had faced and all what they achieved. Even if they aren’t LGBTQ+, many public figures also celebrate the month including some UFC fighters.

UFC is known for its neutrality – that is as long as it doesn’t affect their profit margins. They don’t restrict their fighters – and give them freedom, to a certain extent, to express themselves.

Molina praised the promotion:

“Pretty sick the UFC is letting us rep for Pride month. Get your Pride gear in the store!”

However, it appears that not everyone is happy with the Pride month celebration or the LGBTQ+ community in general. Some of them apparently also sent messages to Molina to address the issue.

But ‘El Jefe’ isn’t taking those messages seriously. He even addressed those who have issues with his support for Pride month in a follow-up tweet, calling them “fruit cups.”

“To all the dudes sliding in my DM’s, I’m a straight guy but pshhh I’m flattered! For all the homophobic dudes upset by me repping pride month on my fight kit y’all some fruit cups.”

Molina will return to the octagon this weekend at UFC Vegas 56 against tough Kazakh Zhalgas Zhumagulov on the preliminary card. Coming into the fight, the 24-years-old will wear the Pride month fight kit to his fight as a sign for his support.

UFC has several prominent gay female athletes  – and no male ones. Previously there was a lot of speculation regarding Adesanya’s proclivities but these are all unsubstantiated rumors at best.

Other notable fights on the card are the No.10-ranked featherweight Dan Ige against the undefeated Movsar Evloev and the main event featuring Alexander Volkov’s clash against fellow heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
