Mark Zuckerberg may not be squaring off against Elon Musk anytime soon after their recent negotiations fell through. However, he’s wholeheartedly committed to training MMA and competing in jiu-jitsu.
In a candid conversation with Forbes, Zuckerberg expressed his keen interest in entering the cage within the next year, eager to face off against a formidable opponent.
He said: “I want to do an MMA competition or some type of formal fight sometime in the next year, so I’m looking forward to that; I’m probably going to do it with someone who takes the sport very seriously and does it competitively or is a professional.”
As he readies himself for his MMA debut, Zuckerberg is training alongside some of the most iconic figures in the sport such as Israel Adesanya and Alex Volkanovski.
Recently, a video surfaced on Adedsanya’s ‘FreeStyleBender‘ YouTube channel, showcasing a sparring session between Zuckerberg and the former UFC middleweight champion.
Adesanya was genuinely impressed with Zuckerberg’s tenacity and skills.
“For the amount of time he’s been training, and for the amount of time he trains, I put it on him, it was kind of a crash course in fighting, so I was coaching him as we were going along, he’s a smart man, I’ll tell you he’s a smart man. I was impressed afterwards…he was like Israel can we go another round, I wasn’t being easy on him and he wanted to go again…he’s a gamer, tenacious, I like that.”
Post the sparring session, Adesanya didn’t hold back his admiration.
“You hit hard, you’re serious, I like it.”
Though Zuckerberg’s MMA debut might be on the horizon, he’s already accumulating battle scars from his rigorous training regimen.
The path ahead looks promising for Zuckerberg as he embraces this new challenge. With his determination and the guidance of seasoned athletes, he’s poised to make waves in the MMA arena.
