UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal slams Pelosi for silencing Olympic athletes

UFC Welterweight Jorge Masvidal has recently made an appearance at the Fox News show “Jesse Waters Primetime”.

The UFC fighter used his appearance to denounce House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s comments regarding American athletes competing at the Olympics in China.

“As I wish the athletes well, I do not encourage them to speak out against the Chinese government there because I fear for their safety if they do,” Pelosi said hours after the opening ceremony. “[To] remove all doubt about why I said they shouldn’t speak out, it’s because I fear for their safety.”

That comment gave conservatives at Fox News quite a lot to talk about.

Jesse Waters asked Masvidal his thoughts about Pelosi’s comments, and for that he said:

“First, I don’t know why they sent our athletes to China, that’s crazy. … I don’t know why they sent the American athletes over there. If it’s such a problem that they can’t even speak on the matters, you know, so it’s crazy.”

“And my parents, of course, I know what they would say. You know what they would say? They said this leads to what Cuba is now, what Venezuela is now. It leads to communism, you know, and we have to stop it as soon as we get a chance. … She’s not for the American people.”

Masvidal is scheduled to fight Colby Covington in the main event of UFC 272.

Masvidal and Covington have had a long history of thrash talk between them.

The two fighters were actually really close friends in the past, but eventually stopped seeing eye-to-eye and are now bitter rivals.

One thing both of them still have in common, is that they are keen to make appearances on the conservative network.

UFC 272 will take place on March 5th at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
