UFC announces Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic despite the fact contract isn’t signed yet

The UFC has made an exciting announcement, revealing that Jon Jones will defend his heavyweight title against former champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 295. Although the contract has yet to be signed, fans are already buzzing.

Jon “Bones” Jones, widely recognized as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, made a successful transition to the heavyweight division after dominating the light heavyweight division for years. Despite initial doubts about his unathletic build, Jones proved his critics wrong with an impressive victory over the number one contender, Ciryl Gane, in March. The 35-year-old submitted Gane in the first round, securing the vacant heavyweight belt.

Now, Jones is preparing to face Stipe Miocic, a former two-time champion with an impressive record. Miocic defended his title four times and is considered one of the greatest heavyweights in the history of the sport. His most recent appearance in the octagon was in March 2021 when he faced Francis Ngannou and suffered a knockout loss.

Jones has expressed his desire to compete against Miocic, considering him the top contender in the heavyweight division. In an interview with TMZ Sport, Jones stated, “Stipe Miocic would be a great challenge. Obviously, I’m not looking past Ciryl Gane, but Stipe Miocic is who I’ve got my eyes on. People consider him the greatest heavyweight of all time.”

Jones continued, “The opportunity to compete against such a man would be an honor. Solidifying my legacy means facing the best opponents out there, and as long as Stipe is still in the game, he will be my next target.”

While UFC fans eagerly await the contract signing and official confirmation, the potential matchup between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 is generating significant excitement within the MMA community. As two highly accomplished stars prepare to collide, the stage is set for a memorable showdown in Madison Square Garden, New York, on November 11.
