Tyron Woodley offered Georges St-Pierre ‘A Dumb Bag’ to make MMA return

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley remains resolute in his pursuit to step into the octagon with Georges St-Pierre.

Most current combat sports fans often associate Woodley with his consecutive defeats to Jake Paul in the squared circle. But Woodley is an iconic UFC star.

Renowned for his skills and tenacity, Tyron Woodley solidified himself as one of the best competitors in the history of the 170-pound division. His ascent to the welterweight title began with a first-round knockout victory over Robbie Lawler.

Woodley followed this up with an impressive defense streak of four wins. He has wins against elite opponents, including Demian Maia, Darren Till, and Stephen Thompson.

However, Woodley is still attached to one particular match.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, the former NCAA Division I All-American disclosed his persistent efforts to secure a match against GSP. He also revealed his ambitious financial offer.

Woodley disclosed, “Like Georges St-Pierre, I offered him a dumb bag, he said ‘No. I’m not in that world anymore. When I say dumb, I’m talking pushing the eight figures. A lot of money.”

Eight digits translates to at least $10 million.

Following a middleweight title victory against Michael Bisping in 2017, St-Pierre retired from MMA. He had dominated the welterweight category with nine title defenses over two distinct reigns. Three years later, he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Beyond the Octagon, Tyron Woodley has seen great success. He most recently was cast in the fifth season of the popular Netflix series ‘Cobra Kai’, and he’s been keeping himself occupied with starting his own promotion.

Tyron stated: “It’s called The Realest International Promotion, TRIP. We’re promoting all things art, we’re not just doing mixed martial arts. We’re doing music, concerts, festivals, cryptocurrency, e-sporting events, boxing, and then we just doing a lot of crossovers.”
