The Onion’s Tim Heidecker Is Launching A Joe Rogan Spoof Podcast After Rogan Comic Sides With Alex Jones

Comedian and podcaster Duncan Trussell recently directed hostile remarks toward journalists at The Onion who now operate the former Infowars platform. This prompted satirist Tim Heidecker to launch a parody podcast that spoofs Joe Rogan’s interview format.

Trussell built his career within Joe Rogan’s network of podcast personalities. He made the comments during an episode of his Mystery Boys podcast while speaking with Alex Jones. The conversation centered on The Onion’s acquisition of the Infowars brand through a bankruptcy auction process following Jones’s Sandy Hook defamation judgments.

Jones described how The Onion, supported by the Michael Bloomberg-funded organization Everytown, had taken control of his former operation.

“They put up a fake studio and didn’t do it blue screen. They bought the same desk,” Jones said. “They said Alex Jones had his head blown off today. They cut to AI me.”

Trussell responded by addressing those involved in the takeover. “All of you people who have been sucked into this,” Trussell said, “You’ve gotten tangled up in something real bad. Guillotines were invented for a reason, man. Like if you’re truly traitorous, treasonous, if you’re really like getting sucked into a thing that is against freedom of speech, that is designed to psychologically abuse and torment and steal people’s identities.”

Jones expanded on the point, framing the use of his likeness as a serious violation. “They don’t just steal it, they then become you and do bad things in your name,” he said. He suggested that anyone participating in the effort had in his view forfeited protection from retribution.

In response to the escalating rhetoric, Heidecker has released promotional material for a new comedy series that mimics the conversational style of Rogan’s podcast. The trailer features Heidecker adopting a laid-back interview manner while discussing topics that mirror the themes common to that format.

Heidecker serves as the creative director and on-camera host for The Onion’s satirical relaunch of Infowars. The Onion has been working to transform the former Jones-run website into a comedy platform. The project aims to turn Infowars into a comedy network featuring satire, parody broadcasts, and contributions from other creators.

The trailer shows Heidecker discussing artificial intelligence developments and asking guests about their pre-performance routines, questions that mirror the casual but meandering style that has become a signature of long-form podcast interviews.
