Duncan Trussell is a comedian best known for his role in Joe Rogan’s orbit of podcast personalities. He recently made a startling on-air statement directed at journalists from The Onion who now operate the former Infowars platform. The remarks came during an episode of Trussell’s ‘Mystery Boys’ podcast.
The conversation grew heated after Jones detailed how The Onion, backed by Michael Bloomberg-funded control group Everytown, had acquired the rights to the Infowars brand through what he described as a rigged bankruptcy auction process.
Jones explained that after his platform was ordered liquidated to pay debts related to the Sandy Hook defamation judgments, The Onion staged a takeover of his old studio and used artificial intelligence to depict Jones’s on-air demise.
“They put up a fake studio and didn’t do it blue screen. They bought the same desk,” Jones said. “They said Alex Jones had his head blown off today. They cut to AI me.”
Trussell responded with pointed hostility toward the staff responsible, singling out Ben Collins, who now runs the operation.
“All of you people who have been sucked into this,” Trussell said, addressing the comedians and media figures who he felt had aligned themselves with the Onion takeover. “You’ve gotten tangled up in something real bad. Guillotines were invented for a reason, man. Like if you’re truly traitorous, treasonous, if you’re really like getting sucked into a thing that is against freedom of speech, that is designed to psychologically abuse and torment and steal people’s identities.”
Jones went further, framing the alleged impersonation of his voice and likeness as a moral transgression deserving of consequence. “They don’t just steal it, they then become you and do bad things in your name,” he said. He argued that anyone participating in the effort had in his view forfeited protection from retribution.
