Terry Crews Publicity Ploy? Anderson Silva set to Box Chael Sonnen in Brazil

It seems like Chael Sonnen is seeking redemption against Anderson Silva. Despite losing twice to Silva in the octagon, Sonnen is now set to face Silva in a boxing match. This bout offers fans a chance to witness a legendary rivalry rekindled.

Although both seem to have moved past their old animosities, it’s naive to think they won’t give their all in the ring. Notably, Silva has remained active by transitioning to boxing. On the other hand, Sonnen has not competed professionally in years.

Recently, Sonnen posted a video on X. He called out Silva and announced their boxing match date: “Oh Anderson yoohoo, it’s me again, see you June 15th”

This match is scheduled for June 15th in São Paulo, Brazil, Silva’s hometown. They will be completing their trilogy in a new arena years after their last UFC clash.

During his UFC career, Sonnen made numerous inflammatory remarks about Brazil and its contenders, including Silva. His trash-talking was notorious, prompting Silva to humorously warn Sonnen that visiting Brazil could be dangerous. Despite this, the two later became good friends.

Fans eagerly anticipate seeing Sonnen in a competitive setting again. With no kicks or grappling involved, Sonnen is confident in his ability to defeat Silva in a pure boxing match. This bout also marks Silva’s final match before retiring from on June 15th. Sonnen believes he is the perfect opponent for Silva’s grand finale.

In a recent Spaten Fight Night ad, Sonnen delivered a message to Silva and Brazilian fans:

“Spaten thank you for this invitation, there’s only one person able to face ‘The Spider’ in his grand finale, me.”

Switching to Portuguese, Sonnen added, “See you in the ring.” It seems like his mind games have already begun.

Adding to the event’s intrigue, Silva’s son will make his boxing debut on the same card. As one legend retires, a new generation of Silva enters the combat sports world.
