Strongman Eddie Hall: I think I prefer MMA (to Boxing)

Eddie Hall is setting his sights on a new challenge in the world of mixed martial arts. The 36-year-old strongman recently participated in an unusual two-against-one bout in the WFF League, where he faced off against TikTok stars Jamil and Jamel Neffati, known as The Neffati Brothers.

In this unique encounter, Hall’s impressive 365-pound frame gave him a significant advantage over his opponents’ combined weight of 290 pounds. The strongman emerged victorious, concluding the match with a decisive win in the third round.

Reflecting on the experience, Hall told Mail Sport, “The 2v1 came around very weirdly. I was training for a big event that got canceled, and then this opportunity landed in my lap. I thought, ‘You know what? Let’s go for it.'”

Now, Hall is focusing on his next challenge in the MMA world. He’s currently in talks to face another former World’s Strongest Man, Mariusz Pudzianowski from Poland. “I’m training hard and trying to get contracts done,” Hall revealed. “Hopefully, you’ll see me back in action pretty soon.”

When asked about his preference between boxing and MMA, Hall stated, “I think I prefer MMA. It’s more my style of competition. Using my strength attributes to pin opponents down and apply various techniques suits me better.”

Hall’s journey into MMA has been bolstered by his relationship with UFC interim champion Tom Aspinall. The strongman sponsors Aspinall’s nutrition and, in return, they train together. Hall described these sessions as “very humbling,” acknowledging that despite his size and strength advantage, Aspinall’s technical skills present a formidable challenge.

“Tom’s a big guy at about 265 pounds, but I’m around 365 pounds. So I’ve got a lot of weight on him and I’m obviously a lot stronger. But that doesn’t mean anything. He uses that against you, if anything,” Hall explained.

The former World’s Strongest Man also shared his thoughts on a potential matchup between Aspinall and MMA legend Jon Jones. Hall boldly predicted, “Tom would dominate Jon Jones if we’re being honest. And I think that’s why the match will never happen. I think Jon Jones probably knows that and will try to avoid it so he retires always being a champion.”
