Action cinema icon Steven Seagal is making his return to the screen after a six-year absence, headlining “Order of the Dragon,” an ensemble action picture.
Director Vjekoslav Katusin has assembled an international cast of martial arts talent for the production, which completed filming in Belgrade, Serbia.
The project marks a collaboration between Dream Team Pictures, Retro Gold 63, and Shamrock Media, with the creative team expressing their ambition to revive the distinctive aesthetic of 1980s and 90s action cinema.
“I am thrilled to share some incredible news with all of you and the world!” Katusin announced on social media. “For my new film project, ‘Order of the Dragon’, we have managed to bring the legendary Steven Seagal back to the big screen after a six-year hiatus.”

The plot follows John Rico and Chang Lee, two professional assassins who experience complications during their latest assignment, leaving Lee wounded. Their superior, Henry Wyatt, offers John a final opportunity: eliminate Mason Ryker, the remaining leader of an organization called the Order of the Dragon.
John travels to Belgrade in pursuit of his target, but soon questions whether his employer has provided him with accurate information. The situation intensifies when Wyatt dispatches another team led by Commander Rouge with orders to eliminate both John and Ryker.
Seagal himself expressed enthusiasm for the project on social media, noting: “Looking forward to teaming up with @andy_long_nguyen of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team on my upcoming project ‘Order of the Dragon’. This promises to be a fun action film under the direction of @vjekoslavkatusin.”

Andy Long Nguyen, formerly associated with Jackie Chan’s renowned stunt team, served as the production’s combat choreographer. The cast includes Belgian martial artist Mark Stas, Ron Smoorenburg, Mohammed Qissi, David Kurzhal, and Dee Yoon, creating a multicultural ensemble of performers with extensive backgrounds in martial arts disciplines.
Production reports indicate that Seagal performed his own sequences without a stand-in. “Steven Seagal fought several fights in Order of the Dragon without a stunt double!” one crew member noted. “You can see him in full size during the fights and admire his aikido technique.”
Katusin emphasized his confidence in the project’s potential impact, stating that he believes “Order of the Dragon” will create a significant impression within the industry. The director described the production as an effort to recapture the distinctive style of the 80s and 90s, bringing back the elements that characterized those memorable years in action filmmaking.
The production is scheduled for release in 2026, with additional promotional materials expected as the post-production process continues.
