Slip of the tongue? Boxer promises to ‘bang’ opponent

In a memorable press conference exchange ahead of their Saturday showdown, heavyweight boxers Zhilei “Big Bang” Zhang and Agit Kabayel engaged in an unintentionally humorous war of words that left the audience chuckling.

When asked about Kabayel’s earlier statement where he gave “bang, bang, bang” as three reasons why he would win, Zhang responded with his own playful twist.

“I heard he said this more time, he will bang me,” Zhang said with a smile. “You know, Saturday we will see, he bang me or I bang him.”

The Chinese heavyweight, known as “Big Bang,” then doubled down on his statement: “I’m Big Bang, I bang you. No deal. I’m Big Bang.”

The exchange highlighted the occasional language barriers in international sports, creating a lighthearted moment during what is typically a tense pre-event press conference.

Zhang, who has become known for his powerful left hand, will face Kabayel in what promises to be an explosive heavyweight contest. The bout marks another significant step in Zhang’s campaign to climb the heavyweight rankings.

Both competitors maintained their composure throughout the press conference, with their unintentionally comedic exchange providing a moment of levity before their upcoming clash at the weekend.
