Canadian Olympic pole vaulter Alysha Newman, who went viral for twerking after winning a bronze medal and who has an OF account, fired back at her critics.
Newman made history, setting a new Canadian record, and becoming the first Canadian woman and the first Canadian of either gender to earn an Olympic medal in pole vaulting since William Halpenny won bronze in the men’s event in 1912.
She also was coming back from suffering a concussion three months before the 2020 Olympics where she no-heighted. “I had brain problems. I had a brain health issue,” she told Canada’s Olympics website. “There’s mental health, and there’s brain health. I wasn’t happy. I didn’t like the sport at that time, and it was a struggle for me. I needed to step away, be happy off the track, so then I learned to love track again and then fix my mental health.”
“This whole year, I’ve been leading up to this moment,” Newman continued. “It was so funny because I felt like I missed out in Tokyo, missed out in Rio. I just wasn’t at my best, personally, on and off the track. This year I said, I’m going to put it all in one basket. I’m putting all track and field in this basket, and it worked out.”

Naturally, Alysha Newman’s excitement and subsequent twerking celebration offended a lot of people. Which then led to people being offended by the fact that she has an OF account with around 65,000 followers and climbing.
“Of course, many people have a certain stereotypes when they think of OF. I can’t change many people’s minds,” Newman, 30, told German publication BILD. “But this website has connected me with many fans, more than any other pole vaulter before. What others think about it doesn’t bother me. I am who I am and I do it well.”
Given how hard it is for Olympians to earn a living and be able to train at the highest level in their given sport, it makes a lot of sense for an athlete to use a subscription website like OnlyFans.
“With what I post – you have to sign up to find out – I earn money. It makes me confident and I feel comfortable with it,” Newman said. She did add, “I post a lot of my training, talking about nutrition and a lot of tips and tricks,” but clarified that there is no adult content.
