“Not good” – Chael Sonnen opens up on Colby Covington’s state after the altercation

Some of us might think that Colby Covington was laughing behind the scenes when former friend Jorge Masvidal was arrested for assaulting him.

Well, according to Chael Sonnen, it doesn’t seem so.

The two time UFC title challenger and BMF belt holder Masvidal reportedly attacked Covington outside of Papi Steak restaurant in Miami last week.

‘Gamebred’ was quick to post a clip on social media claiming responsibility for the attack before realizing it was a bad idea and had the video removed.

Covington, having just beat Masvidal on a one-sided fight a few weeks prior, is said to have suffered a fractured tooth and an abrasion to his wrist courtesy of the attack.

‘Chaos’ later pressed charges against his former teammate and demanded Masvidal pay him $15,000 in repairs for the damage to his $90,000 Rolex watch.

Masvidal was then arrested a few days later on March 23rd and charged with aggravated battery and criminal mischief but later released after posting bail.

He is set to make a court appearance on April 21 after pleading not guilty to the charges.

Talking about the incident, UFC legend and an acquaintance of both fighters, Chael Sonnen stated that many have asked him about Covington’s current state and condition following the incident.

On that matter, he can only provide us with a short but clear answer, “not good.”

“Not good. Guys keep asking me how is Colby (Covington) doing. I’m gonna be very light on details; this is not my story to tell. You want an answer? There’s your answer – Not good.”

The MMA community itself has been polarized by the incident, some are slamming Masvidal for his antics while others are defending him claiming his actions were called for considering what Covington said during the buildups.

As for Sonnen, he has his very own legal mess to speak of especially considering the new details coming out. As per the civil suit file against him an inebriated Sonnen roughed up 5 people including a woman at a Las Vegas hotel. His wife was asleep during and is reportedly not involved.
