MMA star who came at Yoel Romero with a samurai sword opens up on incident after getting acquitted

Bare knuckle boxing champion Alberto Blas has finally broken his silence regarding the controversial incident involving former UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero and allegations of threatening him with a samurai sword.

After being acquitted of all charges, Blas spoke candidly about the situation that had cast a shadow over his combat career.

“The only good thing I want to clarify, and I’m not guilty. I’m not guilty and whatever you know it’s lying. Eeverything is lying. you know. because I’m here. I’m here, I’m free,” Blas stated during a recent interview with Dylan Bowker. Blas made it clear that his record remains clean following the legal proceedings.

The incident, which was not widely publicized at the time due to Romero reportedly keeping the matter private, has been verified through multiple sources. It began with a verbal confrontation between Blas and Romero at American Top Team.

The dispute escalated into the parking lot, where Blas allegedly tried to hit Romero with his car. After reportedly missing twice, Blas got out of the vehicle, pulled a sword from the trunk, and struck Romero twice—once on the arm and once on the hand.

What makes the situation even more remarkable is that, despite allegedly suffering a damaged tendon during the incident, Romero went on to compete twice in 2022, stopping both of his opponents.

For Blas, the ordeal served as motivation rather than a setback. “When this happen, I feel bad because I know what kind of person I am, you know. And people close to me know what kind of person I am,” he explained. However, he revealed that the accusations actually strengthened his resolve: “they give me more strong, and my mind coming more crazy, and more powerful you know.”

Blas emphasized that the legal troubles are firmly in his past. “I don’t have nothing on my record, you know. I going to be citizen soon, you know. I going to be citizen soon, and I’m here I’m happy, you know. I have my family I have my team,” Blas said.

When pressed about the specifics of the samurai sword incident, Blas remained somewhat guarded but maintained his innocence. “Something something happened like that. But, you know, I don’t like it… And the thing I said, I’m no guilty. I’m free, you know.”

Now competing for Bare Knuckle Boxing, Blas appears focused on moving forward with his career. The fighter recently made his promotional debut with a first-round finish victory and has his sights set on becoming a multi-division champion.
