MMA Fighter Dies Of Head Injury After Match

MMA Fighter Lucas Gabriel Peres tragically lost his life following an amateur MMA bout in southern region of Maringa, Brazil.

22 year old fighter died Saturday – and the official cause of death listed on the death certificate states that it was due to head trauma injury per Brazilian outlet G1.

Peres fought on September 11th card on K-1 level. After the match he returned home and started complaining about headaches. Concerned family members took him to a hospital near his home. He was later transferred to Hospital Metropolitano de Sarandi when his condition further deteriorated.

The local authorities are investigating the cause of death further. The fight promoters are said to be in contact with the family but haven’t issued a comment yet.

He competed once prior at amateur level, according to Tapology, losing a bout in May to Leandro Pires, and was returning to competition at the tournament earlier this month.
