During episode 322 of his live chat, Luke Thomas addressed a question about sports betting sponsorships bleeding into MMA media, drawing a hard line on what he would and would not accept for his own show.
Asked whether a potential move by ATS Productions to a prediction market platform would affect his involvement, the MMA analyst made it clear that there were limits to the sponsorships he would accept.
A viewer asked directly: “If ATS productions migrated off DraftKings network and onto a predictive market platform like Kalshi or Polymarket Channel, would that push you to end your connection?”
Thomas gave an unequivocal answer, saying, “Yes. Yes, that would be a deal breaker. I couldn’t do that.”
He then expanded on his concerns about the sports betting industry, arguing that stronger regulation was necessary, both to protect consumers and to ensure the industry’s long-term sustainability.
“Even as it stands with the way in which sports betting works, again, no need to like rehash it all, but I would say that like I am of the belief that the regulatory enforcement around it is… I welcome legislation into sports betting. I welcome it. I think the industry could benefit in terms of like safeguarding its long-term interest. I think it needs it. And in terms of protecting vulnerable customers, I think it’s a must.”
Returning to the original question, Thomas reiterated that moving to a prediction market sponsor would mean the end of his involvement with the show. He also suggested that he did not expect such a change to happen, making his stance clear regardless of how the hypothetical played out.
“So yeah, that would be the end of MK unfortunately. I don’t think that’s going to happen, but it won’t happen. Like, you know what I mean? Like one way or the other, it wouldn’t happen.”
Thomas also revealed that his position was informed by an actual approach from one of the platforms in question. According to the analyst, Kalshi had already contacted him about a potential arrangement, but he turned the offer down.
“Kalshi has reached out to me and I have rejected them. It’s a bridge too far for me.”
