Tolea Ciumac and Daniel Ciudin, who competes under the name Danu Spartanu, are set to share a cage on October 30 in Buzău, Romania. But an unplanned meeting between the two men has already put their rivalry on record days before either of them steps through the ropes.
According to sources, Romanian police confirmed that an altercation between the pair took place on September 12 outside a venue in Bucharest. Officers described a situation that started as a mutual confrontation before tipping further out of hand, with Ciumac eventually getting the better of Spartanu and connecting with several blows to the head.
Bystanders reportedly stopped to record the scene on their phones as it unfolded.
Both men were brought in by police for questioning afterward. Spartanu chose not to press charges and skipped a medical exam, but that leniency did not spare Ciumac from consequences. He was held for 24 hours and has since been remanded in custody for 30 days while authorities investigate.
Police stated that “initial checks established that the two men had initially allegedly been involved in a mutual assault, with the conflict subsequently escalating, during which one of them allegedly continued to repeatedly strike the other.”
Ciumac now faces scrutiny over assault and related vi0lent conduct, along with allegations that he disturbed public order.
Spartanu, for his part, has not let a visible black eye slow him down. He turned to social media to reassure fans and followers that he was in good shape, brushing off concerns with characteristic bravado.
“I’m fine, everything is normal with me,” he said. “I’m waiting for 30 October and then… My head hurts; I’m getting up tomorrow morning for the press conference. It’ll be gone by the wedding.”
That comment about a press conference suggests the promotion behind the October 30 card intends to move forward as scheduled, treating the pre-bout friction as a curious footnote rather than a reason to pull the matchup.
Neither man has offered a detailed public account of what triggered the confrontation, and Ciumac has not issued a statement of his own.
