At 58 years old, Mike Tyson is preparing for what he calls “the biggest fight of my life” against Jake Paul on November 15th. The former heavyweight champion shared details of his grueling daily training routine as he gets ready to step back in the ring.
Tyson’s day starts early with a 4-5 mile run on the treadmill. As he explained on Pound 4 Pound podcast:
“I get up in the morning I do the road work… Basically what four miles on the treadmill four or 5 I can’t do it outside people [ __ ] with me yeah right so I go on the treadmill”
But the cardio doesn’t stop there. Tyson follows up his run with an intense rowing machine workout:
“After that I do the rower for like I don’t know I might do this on the real too I might do 3,000 rows then come back later do another 3,000 yeah then the next morning do another 3,000 I got I got um I got at least I got 7,000 roads within the um within um a day and a half”
That adds up to an astonishing 7,000 rows in just 36 hours. For perspective, many fitness experts recommend 2,000-5,000 meters of rowing as a full workout.
Tyson admits the training is grueling, when describing his workout intensity. But he sees it as necessary, explaining “It’s just the sickness in me.”
Despite his age, Tyson brushes off any notion of limitations, stating:
“Our man’s biggest downfall is to believe he has limitations and that’s what we do when we believe we’re a certain amount of age I don’t think I’m 58”
With this inhuman training regimen, Mike Tyson is aiming to prove age is just a number when he faces Jake Paul in November. The fight will air live on Netflix from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
