Kickboxer Vladimir Toktasynov Dies at 36 After Reported Cardiac Arrest

The combat sports world is mourning the sudden loss of heavyweight kickboxer Vladimir “Tok” Toktasynov. He passed away at age 36 following a reported cardiac arrest. News of his death broke on November 4, 2025, surprising the global kickboxing community.

Glory, the world’s premier kickboxing organization, confirmed the tragic news and released a heartfelt statement honoring the fallen athlete. “We are deeply saddened by this sudden news and will always remember his time in the Glory Ring and his long, dedicated career in Europe,” the organization said. “Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time.”

Born in Kazakhstan and representing Germany throughout his professional career, Toktasynov carved out a respected place in the heavyweight division. Over his career spanning more than seven decades of competition, he amassed an impressive record of 51 victories in 71 kickboxing bouts, competing in some of Europe’s most prestigious promotions.

The timing of his death has left many in disbelief. Just three weeks before his passing, Tok was training in the ring with Benjamin Adegbuyi, a Romanian heavyweight and former world title challenger to Rico Verhoeven.

Adegbuyi expressed his surprise on Instagram, writing, “I can’t believe we were in the ring a few weeks ago and now this…”

Toktasynov competed twice for Glory, the sport’s largest organization. In June 2023, he faced Nabil Khachab, followed by a first-round technical knockout loss to French competitor Sofian Laïdouni in April 2024. According to reports, he had made several requests to Glory for additional opportunities to compete following those matches.

Among his notable career achievements was a victory over Chris Cooper at SuperKombat in 2013. The win helped establish his reputation within the British kickboxing scene. He later competed against Daniel Sam in 2016 at Respect World Series in London, though he lost via unanimous decision.

KOK, another prominent kickboxing organization, also paid tribute to the late champion. “Vladimir Tok will always remain part of KOK history,” their statement read. “His strength, character, and fighting spirit will never be forgotten.”

Throughout his career, Toktasynov was known for more than just his technical abilities and power in the ring. Colleagues and fans consistently described him as disciplined, kind-hearted, and deeply passionate about martial arts. His dedication to the sport inspired countless younger competitors who looked up to him as a role model.
