Khamzat Chimaev is one of the biggest names in the UFC in spite of being there since July of 2020. But the Swedish resident got in a bit of a scuffle recently – outside the cage.
It’s been confirmed that the altercation in question occurred backstage at an MMA event in Sweden. Chimaev was there in attendance and was present backstage.
Footage shows the Welterweight ace watching one of the fights. Once the ref steps in and waves off the fight – the crowd goes wild. It’s speculated that the fight stoppage was too early however the man in question did appear punch drunk just before the fight was stopped.
At this point there’s a commotion – Chimaev seems unnerved and is kicking down chairs in front of the man videoing the altercation. Security can be seen in the background entering the cage and making sure that the two fighters can’t continue fighting outside of regulation. Security seems to have a tough time getting the defeated fighter to stand on his two feet (presumably for the victory announcement).
At this point Chimaev rushes toward the cage and is greeted at the cage entrance by several security men wearing yellow vests. A voice can be heard near the camera man summoning Khamzat back to the place where his seat was at cageside.
