Khabib addresses Georges St.Pierre grappling match rumors

Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired from his professional MMA career undefeated (29-0). He’s now very determined to become a noteworthy promoter. Nurmagomedov is also very selective about the type of business opportunities he will say yes to.

While Nurmagomedov said no to dream match up against Georges St.Pierre in the UFC, Eagle FC executive  Shamil Zavurov indicated that they might stage a grappling event featuring the two UFC greats.

“I think that nothing prevents this fight from being held in Miami. Khabib is always in shape. I follow Saint-Pierre on Instagram and I see that he is always in shape, training. Khabib is such a sports fan that he keeps himself in shape all the time. Nothing prevents a fight between them. It would be interesting. It would be possible to organize this fight at one of the EFC tournaments in the USA,”

Even though Zavurov is president of Eagle FC  – he might be way off base on this one. Khabib recently shared his thoughts on the matter.

“I don’t see the point of it. You can, of course, add fuel to the fire. Say something… But I don’t want to. I don’t want to promote this topic. “Oh I could return in Eagle FC” – I don’t want to make it. I want to make publicity for the league in another format. I don’t think that i’ll return, (to) wrestle with someone.”

Meanwhile his AKA coach Javier Mendez told Submission radio (h/t spotskeeda):

“That would be interesting, that would be fun to watch. He’s grappling now, he [Khabib Nurmagomedov] kills everybody. The guy is still killing everybody – he’s heavier though, but he’s killing everybody.”

“Khabib is gonna dominate him, just like he does everybody else. That’s what I expect. I expect nothing less from him. I’ve never seen him not dominate anybody.”

Nurmagomedov also said no to other grappling matches. ADCC organizer Mo Jassim previously talked about having contacted Khabib with a lucrative offer – but Nurmagomedov wasn’t interested.
