Jon Jones is even “willing to box” Tyson Fury in his quest to drown out Ngannou’s claim to the throne of the baddest man alive

UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, has expressed his enthusiasm for a potential bout against current WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, urging UFC president, Dana White, to pursue this highly anticipated clash. Jones is even open to transitioning to the world of boxing to make the matchup a reality.

Jones, a former light heavyweight champion, made a triumphant return to the Octagon in March after a three-year hiatus. He secured a first-round victory over Ciryl Gane, the former interim heavyweight champion, with a guillotine to claim the vacant division title.

Scheduled to make his next Octagon appearance at UFC 295 in November at Madison Square Garden, Jones, who now sits at the top of the pound-for-pound rankings, has been linked to potential heavyweight title defenses against former champion Stipe Miocic and rising Russian knockout artist Sergei Pavlovich.

Recently, there has been speculation surrounding a potential fight between Jones and WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, following a verbal exchange on social media. Jones addressed this possibility and expressed his desire for a future matchup with the Morecambe native, urging Dana White to make the event happen.

“I would love it if Dana (White) could make that fight happen,” expressed Jon Jones during an interview. “That’s one thing about the UFC, we always give the fans what they want to see.”

Jones further explained his admiration for Tyson Fury as an opponent, stating, “Tyson Fury is just such a magnificent opponent, and it would be awesome to make that fight happen. I’m up for it, and I’d even be willing to box him. Let’s see what happens.”

Tyson Fury, with an impressive professional record of 33-0-1, most recently defended his WBC heavyweight championship by securing a tenth-round standing TKO victory over Derek Chisora in December of last year in London, England.

A potential matchup between Jon Jones and Tyson Fury promises to be a thrilling spectacle, captivating both MMA and boxing fans worldwide. Jones’ willingness to step into the boxing ring adds another intriguing dimension to this hypothetical encounter. Now, it’s up to Dana White and the respective parties involved to determine whether this dream event will become a reality.

Tyson Fury seems to be in it for the publicity and so is UFC brass. The UFC seems hard pressed about Ngannou’s departure and his impending transition to boxing. While it’s looking like Fury’s option wasn’t serious he’s more than likely to box Deontay Wilder next year because the two had had serious talks with their teams.
