Joe Rogan couldn’t hide his disbelief when his podcast guest Cody Tucker insisted he could outrun the UFC commentator and comedian in a sprint.
The debate started when Cody suggested during an episode of the JRE podcast that if danger struck, he’d be able to move surprisingly fast.
“If something happens, you would be surprised, I’m telling you,” Cody said confidently. “I feel like you don’t believe me at all on this, but if something happened, I’d really be able to take off pretty quick.”
When Rogan asked for clarification, Cody doubled down: “Like fast.”
Rogan’s response was immediate and unfiltered. “I think you’re delusional,” he said flatly.
But Cody wasn’t backing down.
Rogan painted a hypothetical scenario involving the two of them being chased by an animal. He said, “Well, I don’t think you’d be able to run. If there was like you and me and an animal was chasing us, it’s going to get you.”
However, Tucker predicted that he’d be safe.
“I’m coming in first. You’re coming in second,” Tucker said.
Rogan found the whole thing genuinely entertaining. “That’s interesting. That’s a hilarious perspective. That’s actually hilarious,” he responded, clearly amused by his guest’s confidence.
Cody tried to introduce variables into the equation, suggesting the outcome might depend on what animal was chasing them. Rogan wasn’t having any of it.
“It does not depend on the animal. It could be a chicken chasing us. I’m going to get ahead of you by a large margin. Really quickly. And there’s no way you can catch me. It’s not even physically possible.”
When Cody asked about the distance of this theoretical race, Rogan made it clear that wouldn’t matter either.
“It doesn’t matter. It could be 100 yards. It could be 100 miles,” Rogan said.
Cody then mentioned his 40-yard dash time, claiming it was “surprisingly quick.”
Rogan immediately pointed out the obvious flaw in that argument. He noted, “I think that was a long time ago, Cody.”
After some back and forth, Cody eventually conceded. He stated, “Probably not.”
He then suggested they simply wouldn’t race, so the truth would never be known. But Rogan couldn’t let the moment pass without pointing out the absurdity of the entire conversation.
He noted, “It’s just a weird idea that you have in your head. A guy who’s so smart and who is so interested in facts and history has this one delusional idea that you can run.”
