Joe Rogan has defended Josh Hokit’s controversial comments at the UFC’s White House event, arguing that the athlete’s remarks were calculated to attract attention and raise his profile.

“He did a smart thing. I mean, it’s very rude. It’s very rude, but it’s a smart thing cuz we’re all still talking about it. Otherwise, it’s just another fig ht of the night,” Rogan said.
Rogan compared Hokit’s approach to that of a professional wrestling villain, a performer whose role is designed to provoke a strong reaction from the audience. In his view, the athlete’s statement created a memorable character and ensured that fans would pay closer attention to his next appearance.

The next time he shows up at a UFC event, the crowd is going to go bananas. And if he wins, he’s a superstar. And he probably doubled his income by saying Michelle Obama’s a man.”
