Jiri Prochazka confirms Khamzat Chimaev broke his rib in sparring

UFC star in the making Khamzat Chimaev is on a path to become a UFC champion considering he’s facing the No.2 welterweight – Gilbert Burns this weekend.

In preparation for the bout, he had trained with several fighters including Darren Till and Jiri Prochazka.

While Chimaev and Till were seen spending time or hanging out together on multiple occasions, he was rarely seen with Prochazka.

Despite that, the two are spending a lot of time together in training. In an interview with MMA journalist James Lynch, Prochazka shared what it’s like to train with the ‘Borz’.

“Nice, nice, I think he’s a good guy, very good, good wrestling, good cardio, but nothing I think, nothing so so much special, yeah he’s good.” Prochazka said.

This is somewhat different to what Prochazka went on to share in messages(original format ).

While Chimaev’s title shot is imminent if he beat Burns, Prochazka will face the UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira in June at UFC 275 in Singapore.

The matchup between Teixeira and Prochazka will be a fight that Chimaev will look forward as he has announced in the past that his goal is to become the first UFC three-division champion.

“I want a title, and it doesn’t matter what the title is. I can also fight for the 93 kilogram belt. Who’s fighting over there now? Two guys… Glover and Jiri Prochazka. He [Jiri] was also at our gym. He knows me. He knows what I can do. Ask the guy how his sparring with Khamzat went. He will tell you. I can also fight with these guys.” said Chimaev in an interview with Henry Cejudo and ‘the Schmo’.

However, before talking about the light heavyweight division, Chimaev still had a tough test ahead of him in Gilbert Burns.

Despite having 4 losses in the UFC, Burns has been undefeated in his welterweight run except for a single loss in the title fight against the champion Kamaru Usman.
