In a revelation that has taken social media by storm, action star Jean-Claude Van Damme (JCVD) has disclosed that he was not the one who performed the famous split between two Volvo trucks in the iconic 2013 commercial.
Through a social media post, Van Damme admitted that stunt performer Alain Moussi was actually responsible for executing the spectacular split maneuver in the advertisement created by agency Forsman & Bodenfors for Volvo Trucks.
“I can’t do the splits since many years ago,” Van Damme stated in his post, promising to release original footage of Moussi’s performance. “I am so sorry that I lied to you all these years.”

The commercial, which went viral and garnered millions of views worldwide, showed what appeared to be Van Damme performing a perfect split between two reversing Volvo trucks, set to Enya’s “Only Time.” The advertisement was widely praised for its innovative concept and apparent showcasing of both Van Damme’s flexibility and Volvo’s steering precision.

However, some social media users are questioning the timing and authenticity of these claims, suggesting the actor’s social media accounts may have been compromised. Others speculate these revelations might be related to alleged internal disputes.
Industry experts suggest that even if the claims are true, Volvo is unlikely to pursue any legal action, given the advertisement’s age and the company’s changes in ownership since its creation. The trucks featured in the commercial are now considered old models, and any legal proceedings could potentially draw unwanted attention.
Throughout his recent career, Van Damme has shown a more introspective side, often engaging in self-reflection and displaying a more humble public persona. This latest revelation, if genuine, appears to align with this evolution in his public image.
Van Damme also suffers from being bipolar disorder so it’s not impossible that he was behind the relevations.
Representatives for Volvo Trucks and Alain Moussi have not yet commented on these claims.
