Islam Makhachev on McGregor vs Chandler: Happy one of them is finally going to win

Conor McGregor’s return to MMA begins with his coaching role on TUF 31. The UFC’s cash cow is finally coming back after being sidelined due to his injury at UFC 264. As a result, he’s expected to clash with rival coach Michael Chandler in the octagon.

Everyone’s excited about this fight because of the exciting styles that these two veterans possess. However, Islam Makhachev recently commented on the possible scrap between the two on ESPN MMA and mocked their recent forms.

Islam feels like this is Chandler’s last outing in the cage. He predicts that Chandler is going to retire after this big-money matchup. He thinks that the UFC will release “Iron” Mike due to his poor win/loss record in recent times — Chandler has only won one of his last four bouts.

“I think for Chandler, this fight, it’s the last fight for him. He’s going to make money and that’s it.”

“He’s going to retire or if he loses, maybe the UFC kicks him out because how many times he lose?”

Regarding the “Notorious” one, Islam said that McGregor is going to be a shadow of his former self. He blamed this on McGregor’s time away from the cage, combined with his reckless partying lifestyle.

“For Conor, I don’t know, he’s not gonna be in good shape,”

The lightweight champion accused McGregor of having done a lot of damage to his body. He said that the Irishman did and consumed “a lot of bad stuff” during his hiatus.

According to him, “it’s gonna be hard to beat Chandler” for McGregor because of this.

The Dagestani champ took a shot at both of their recent win/loss records as well. He said that he’s happy for the two of them since at least one of them will go home with a much-needed W.

“But what I said before, finally someone is gonna win you know, I’m happy.”

“Last four fights, they both lose three times. That’s why this fight is happening.” he later added.

Meanwhile, Islam is all set to defend his title against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284 in the latter’s home country. He looks to face the P4P best in the UFC on 12th February.
