Hollywood’s Jake Gyllenhaal praises McGregor for humble approach to acting

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor is not only a prominent figure inthe MMA world but also making waves in Hollywood.

Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal is renowned for his roles in movies like ‘Nightcrawler’ and ‘Prisoners.’ He recently showered praise on McGregor for his commendable approach during the filming of the highly anticipated ‘Road House’ remake.

McGregor showcased his skills in the recently premiered film, set to stream on Prime Video next week. Gyllenhaal has expressed admiration for McGregor’s humility on the set. In an exclusive interview, Gyllenhaal recounted McGregor’s words upon joining the cast:

“With Conor when he came to the movie set. He came in and said, ‘I’m a white belt. I’m here to learn. I don’t know anything about making movies or acting, and I want to learn.  That type of humility in that space, I tried to bring the same way in the opposite end. I don’t know that much about the fight game. I have great respect for it, and I wanted to learn.”

The collaboration between McGregor and Gyllenhaal emphasizes the intriguing intersection of mixed martial arts (MMA) and cinema. Notably, some scenes were even shot during actual UFC weigh-ins.

While McGregor’s Hollywood debut is making headlines, his commitment to the UFC remains unwavering. Despite uncertainties about his future in MMA since his last bout in July 2021, McGregor has expressed a keen interest in returning to action. Rumours of a highly anticipated match against Michael Chandler have circulated, yet no official announcement has been made by the promotion.

In a recent interview, McGregor clarified that his Hollywood venture does not signify a shift in priorities. He downplayed the long-term significance of his transition into acting, stating: “Maybe it’s an opportunity for something down the line, I don ‘t know. ”

His immediate focus revolves around the UFC, as he expressed a strong desire to secure a match soon and potentially compete multiple times before the year concludes.

He stated: “Right now… Hopefully, I get a fight date booked. I’m looking to compete a couple of times by the end of the year. I’d love 2 fights in by the end of the year…But for me, my game inside that octagon is far from over.”

As the ‘Road House’ remake prepares to hit screens, McGregor’s fans eagerly await his return to the octagon.
