Gnarly cut forces corner to throw in the towel at an MMA event

Jacobi Jones has put one back in the win column with a win against Riley Wiseman at LFA 133 by first-round TKO. But the bout is particularly interesting due to how the fight ended.

Jones was coming off a submission loss against Austin Wourms at LFA 124 in February, marking the first loss in his pro career. He then opted to return against the-then undefeated Riley Wiseman.

Wiseman won both of his professional bouts, all by submission. He then put his unblemished record on the line against the more experienced ‘Big Toe’.

As soon as the bell rang, the two lightweight fighters started brawling with each other. In less than two minutes, one of Jones’ strikes had opened a big cut on Wiseman’s forehead.

Jones then landed a combination ending with a right hook that dropped the then-undefeated Wiseman. While Jones is kicking the downed Wiseman’s legs to prompt him to stand, referee Oscar Martinez halted the fight to look at the huge cut.

However, before the referee made adecision regarding the cut, Wiseman’s father– who was in his son’s corner–threw in the towel. Jones then celebrated the first TKO victory in his career.

UFC flyweight contender Brandon Royval also made an appearance in the bout – cornering the winning fighter.

The cage-side commentator apparently got a clear view of the cut. One of them look at the cut with awe and left the comment:

“The cut is unbelievably large! Holly molly!” he said.

With the victory, Jones’s record improved to 4-1 with two finishes to his credit. While Wiseman must swallow a defeat and first professional loss, dropping his record to 2-1.

At the LFA 133 main event that night, Jose Delano successfully snatched the LFA featherweight belt as he dominated Michael Stack to a unanimous decision victory.
