Fyre Fest founder Billy McFarland set to compete at Karate Combat May 30th

In a strange turn of events, Billy McFarland, the mastermind behind the ill-fated Fyre Festival, has announced his entry into the world of competitive martial arts. McFarland, who served a four-year prison sentence for defrauding investors and festival-goers, is set to compete in the Karate Combat league.

Since his release from prison, McFarland has been dedicated to regaining his physical fitness, which had suffered greatly during his prison stint. “I gained like 60 pounds, literally,” McFarland admitted in a recent interview. “I was eating like s*it, and I knew I was going to jail.”

Determined to turn his life around, McFarland turned to Muay Thai classes, managing to squeeze in five to six months of training before his prison sentence. Even behind bars, McFarland found ways to stay active, using makeshift equipment to continue his martial arts training. “In jail, I would literally have guys hold toilet paper rolls so they would ace bandage their hands… and kind of hit the pads, if you will, like in the back of the cell block.”

Upon his release from prison, McFarland resumed his Muay Thai training, gradually increasing his intensity over the past few weeks. He has begun sparring and preparing himself for the Karate Combat competition.

McFarland credits his time in prison with helping him regain his physical form. “Ironically, you just like sleep so much, right, because there’s nothing else to do. So you have a ton of energy when you’re awake, and you sleep and you work out and you eat a lot. So it all kind of like works out to getting in good physical shape.” He told Fight SZN podcast that he was in the best shape of his life during his prison stint.

McFarland competes May 30th. He’ll be taking on Justin Custardo the founder of Web3 breakfast club.

Now, as McFarland gears up for his Karate Combat debut, he’s more determined than ever to take his martial arts skills to the next level. With his unorthodox training methods and renewed focus on physical fitness, McFarland is poised to make a splash in the competitive martial arts world.

As news of McFarland’s entry into Karate Combat spreads, fans and critics alike are eagerly anticipating his performance. Will the Fyre Festival founder be able to translate his martial arts skills into victory in the competitive arena? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – Billy McFarland is ready to take on the challenge.
