“Focus on your own weight class” – Derek Brunson trolls Paulo Costa after call out

Derek Brunson may not be undefeated anymore or blonde for that matter, but he still showing his ferociousness outside the octagon, for instance, on Twitter.

Brunson last appeared on the UFC 271’s main card back in February, losing by knockout to Jared Cannonier following early success in the bout.

Now, the 38-year-old Brunson reacted to several callouts he received from former title challenger Paulo Costa.

On Twitter, the UFC veteran told Costa to focus on his own weight class while taking a dig at ‘the Eraser’.

Costa was famously told by Dana White he would have to go up a weight class following the weight cutting mega fail and subsequent strange sauna video sessions. Costa appeared uninterested into reaching any weight agreed upon for the Vettori bout. While the UFC hates to cancel the main event, Costa is currently feeling the heat with the promotion reluctant to book him despite him calling out others. In recent days he also targetted Strickland who was subsequently booked to face the only man that beat Adesanya – Alex Pereira.

At the end of the tweet, he also revealed that he is currently working on his game and might not be available soon before throwing the last shot to the Brazilian, calling him “Paulo Pasta”.

“. @BorrachinhaMMA focus on your own weight class . You’re a heavyweight . I tried to fight you multiple times . Your disappeared until I got a fight . I’m not fighting soon, I’m working on my craft . I’m waiting on your 2nd heavyweight fight . Paulo Pasta”

Costa responded by saying:

“He said I’m heavyweight hahahaha
“How can I fight a heavyweight in the middleweight? It’s unfairly fight. This is guy is so big. He is on peds he is a cheater. I don’t want fight Costa” Derek Brunson lol
I knew he was shaking as well ?

These fighters in middle weight are unhappy for me fighting at 185 cause they can’t fight big like me. I have 15 fights and just miss weight once after injures in training camp. Many fighters missed weight couple times and still ok . It’s an illogical thing just look like scares , right.”

Costa has been actively calling out foks on Twitter, especially Sean Strickland and Derek Brunson.

While Costa is not in the UFC’s good graces he’s still ranked number 4 in the middleweight division. In fact, the 30-year-old Brazilian is in a 3 way tie with them for number 4 in rankings. Considering the rankings are farcical it’s strange to see Costa not pushed down further.

While ‘Borrachinha’ is eager to get out of purgatory the situation and get a new contract, Sean Strickland is seemingly more interested in facing interesting new talent in Alex Pereira.

Costa hasn’t had a single win since his three-round war against Yoel Romero back in August 2019, losing his next two against Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori.
