Lightweight contender Genaro Valdez was to face Patrick White. The bout start was already irregular as White forgot his protective cup and mouthpiece backstage – he ran out to retrieve the items.
White perhaps should’ve taken it as a sign – during the fight he would lose his mouthpiece a second time – and things did not go well for him from there.
