Female UFC star breaks silence on viral “I need to poop” moment

In a moment of candor that quickly spread across social media, UFC women’s strawweight Loopy Godinez addressed her now-viral declaration during her recent victory at UFC Mexico City.

Godinez, who defeated Julia Polastri via unanimous decision, revealed to Ariel Helwani in a post-fight interview that she had been battling illness leading up to the bout, which created some uncomfortable moments during the bout.

“I was pretty much sick when I go into the fight,”

Godinez explained.

“And then my stomach wasn’t feeling great when I started hydrating… Then, in the cage in the second round, I just felt something, and I just said it with no filters, and that happened on-camera.”

The moment in question occurred between rounds when Godinez was caught on microphone exclaiming to her corner:

“Holy sh*t, I need to poop.”

The unfiltered comment quickly went viral online, adding an unexpected dimension to her otherwise impressive performance.

In her interview, Godinez detailed how her issues began during the weight cut recovery process.

“When I started hydrating, my stomach it wasn’t feeling great,”

she said.

“I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s okay, it’s just probably because my body is trying to assimilate from nothing to some food and drinking.'”

The star mentioned experiencing chills and other symptoms the day before but attempted to push those concerns out of her mind.

“I was just like, ‘Just suck it up, you know, like it is what it is,'”

Godinez recalled.

When asked how close she might have been to an unfortunate in-cage incident, Godinez joked that

“if it was 5 rounds, it would have been bad,”

but assured fans that

“everything was fine” during the actual bout.

Despite the uncomfortable circumstances, Godinez‘s performance remained dominant throughout the three-round contest, making her victory all the more impressive given what she was dealing with physically.

This isn’t the first time Godinez has impressed UFC leadership. CEO Dana White previously compared her to Khamzat Chimaev after she competed twice within a single week in October 2021.

“You know me. I love people that turn around and keep fighting and stay active and stay on the top of people’s minds,”

White said at the time.

“The best one that I can even compare to is Khamzat Chimaev.”

While certainly not the type of attention most stars seek, Godinez has handled the situation with good humor, acknowledging the reality of what happened while still celebrating her victory in Mexico City.

“It happened and it’s great, you know. I don’t care,”

she said.

“It’s what it is.”
