An Egyptian bodybuilder known for injecting liters of synthol into his body has spent months searching for a surgeon willing to remove the necrotic tissue now threatening his life. The man, who does not train and has reportedly been banned from gyms, built his oversized arms, chest, and traps entirely through oil injections rather than actual muscle growth.
The synthol causes the body to wall off the injected areas, cutting them off from blood supply, nutrients, and oxygen. Over time, this causes the tissue to go necrotic, essentially dying inside the body. As this spreads, it triggers reactions that affect other organ systems and disrupts mineral balance in the body. Left untreated, the condition is fatal.
In earlier videos, he pleaded publicly for medical help. “It’s important. Why isn’t a credible doctor speaking out? What are you afraid of? I’ll sign a waiver. I’m dying every day anyway. Take a positive step. Examine me. Only one doctor examined me and refused surgery because there must be reasons,” he said.
He explained that one doctor initially agreed to operate but backed out. “He was scared it wouldn’t succeed or become a media thing. After agreeing, he backed out. He said he couldn’t operate.”
Doctors were hesitant because the sheer volume of tissue requiring removal made the surgery extremely large in scope. Eventually, he found a doctor willing to proceed.
The first procedure, focused on his right pec, has reportedly gone well. Photos afterward still show dark, discolored areas across his arms and traps, marking tissue that remains cut off from blood flow and will need further operations.
During a follow up exam, the doctor indicated more procedures would follow to treat the remaining side and restore symmetry, reassuring him that sensation would eventually return.
This case echoes a documented autopsy of another synthol user who passed away from heart failure nearly a decade after stopping the injections, after calcium deposits built up around oil filled granulomas and disrupted his heart function.
