Former world boxing champion Ebanie Bridges has expressed her frustration over the controversial draw between Elle Brooke and Paige VanZant. Brooke knocked down the ex-UFC star in the first round. But VanZant put up a fight to secure a draw, a decision that Bridges vehemently disagrees with.
Bridges was serving as Brooke’s mentor and training partner. She was present ringside in Texas to support her. After the match, she joined her boxing protégé backstage, where emotions ran high.
Bridges passionately stated: “We are here with Elle. F***ing smashed it, I’m so proud of her. I think she f***ing won, I think the draw is bulls***. They just wanna make money. They just wanna make money because they wanna see it again. Aw, my baby! You’re the best.”

Both boxers eventually agreed to a rematch after the judges declared a draw following five intense rounds in Houston. VanZant acknowledged the tough nature of the matchup, having anticipated it throughout her training camp.
VanZant commented: “I said it would be a tough fight, the whole camp. I knew how tough she was, I took the fight for a reason. I was excited, I watched her past fights I knew it would be tough. It is what it is it sets up the perfect rematch.”
Brooke reflected on the bout’s outcome. She stated while she felt the knockdown gave her an edge, she understood the need to review the match closely.
She stated: “I mean it’s one of those things, you have to rewatch it because when you’re in there you’re getting hit but you’re also hitting. I don’t think I’m experienced enough to think, ‘I’m 100 per cent winning this.'”
“But because of the knockdown I can see me winning it but I’ll have to watch it back. I was just saying to Paige, we now we get a big money rematch! This is perfect.”
While VanZant hinted that the rematch might take place in Dubai, Mams Taylor (co-founder of Misfits Boxing) confirmed that the bout would be held in the UK.
Taylor announced: “We’re going to see them back in the ring in the UK. Elle came out here on Paige’s turf now Paige is going to return the favour now in the UK. It was decided in that very ring moments after the announcement of it being a draw. They both want it. Let’s run it back.”
The draw between Elle Brooke and Paige VanZant has sparked much debate and anticipation for their rematch. It seems like the next bout is set to be a major highlight in the sport.
