Dillon Danis is in Talks to Face Former UFC Champion in MMA

In a recent interview on the red carpet for the premiere of his friend Conor McGregor’s film remake of “Road House,” Dillon Danis revealed that he is in talks to face a former UFC champion in an upcoming MMA bout.

When asked about his MMA career and what’s next for him, Danis cryptically stated, “I’m probably gonna be fighting a former UFC champion, Hall of Famer. So yeah, it’ll be good. It’ll be good for you. And MMA, yes sir.”

Interestingly Tyron Woodley isn’t in the hall of fame. It’s possible Danis might be suggesting he’ll face Anderson Silva.

Danis did not disclose which promotion the potential bout would take place under or name the opponent he is targeting. However, he did indicate that once the matchup gets announced, fans will be excited as “they all know the opponent, so it’ll be big.”

The 29-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has competed twice in MMA, fighting for Bellator in 2019 with a record of 2-0. His last MMA bout was in June 2019, defeating Max Humphrey by submission. Since then, Danis has focused more on boxing, competing in exhibition matches.

Facing a former UFC champion and Hall of Famer would undoubtedly be the biggest test of Danis’ MMA career so far. While he did not provide any further details, this matchup has certainly piqued the interest of MMA fans wondering which legendary star Danis might be referring to.

In the same red carpet interview, Dillon Danis also weighed in on the recent boxing exhibition between former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and unified heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua.

When asked about the crossover, Danis didn’t mince words, saying “It was hard to watch, man. You know, our MMA guys are going, but I see it, I prefer MMA better than him.”

Despite praising MMA’s superiority, Danis acknowledged Joshua’s impressive performance, stating “Anthony Joshua looked f**king fast, man. He looked very fast. Anthony Joshua looked really sharp. I think he’s gonna give Tyson Fury trouble, you know.”
