Diego Sanchez has been keeping busy since parting ways with the UFC. The veteran has signed a lucrative deal with Eagle FC – and he’s making his boxing debut on top of that. It’s been announced that Sanchez will be taking on another UFC veteran in Dan Hardy.
Hardy was previously determined to box Tyron Woodley but Woodley has been swimming in lucrative opportunities thanks to his Jake Paul boxing stint.
Hardy first mentioned months ago that he was in talks to box Woodley. At the time he was also having discussions with ONE FC and other promotions. Hardy retired quite a while ago due to a heart issue he was reluctant to operate. But according to Hardy himself, his new medicals clear him to compete in combat sports.
The come back will be happening at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. Arena has a huge capacity – with 21,000 seats. Ricky Hatton is another veteran targeting a return. Hatton, 43, is a former professional boxer who recently announced his participation in an exhibition bout.
“I can confirm my return to the ring,” Hatton posted on his personal Twitter account.
“Join me for a huge party night – with top music acts – in Manchester on July 2. It’s not how you fall, it’s how you rise…”
Hatton will be taking on Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Barrera .
Sanchez tweeted at Khabib Nurmagomedov on April 1st – potentially wanting to see if his participation in a boxing match would interfere with his contract.
