In a revealing interview on his ‘On Borrowed Time’ podcast, grappling superstar Craig Jones has teased a potential sequel to his controversial intergender match with Gabi Garcia, this time eyeing another female heavyweight as his opponent.
Jones, who has been making waves with his Craig Jones Invitational (CJI) promotion, revealed he’s been “exploring the world, trying to find the next Gabi Garcia” to challenge for what he jokingly refers to as the “Intergender World Championship.”
“I’m trying to find the next giant, sexually aggressive woman challenger to the Intergender title,” Jones quipped during the interview, before dropping a significant name as a potential opponent.
“I remember we had entertained previously Tayane Porfirio,” Jones said, referring to the multiple-time IBJJF world champion who dominated women’s competition before receiving a four-year ban from the organization. “I believe she was like super dominant. I think she ended up getting a four-year ban from the IBJJF, but that could be a potential challenger for the Intergender belt.”
The Australian grappling sensation’s first intergender exhibition match with Garcia generated significant buzz in the jiu-jitsu community, though Jones noted he may have misplaced the medal from their original encounter:
“The Intergender medal I received, I believe I gave it away and lost it, so we’ll have to make another one.”
Sadly for Craig, Porfirio, who once weighed a staggering 130kg (285 lb) started dropping weight years ago when UAJJEF basically outlined that female competitors cannot weigh more than 110kg. 30 year old Porfirio nowadays competes in the under 95kg division (210 lbs).

During the wide-ranging interview, Jones also announced Victor Hugo as the latest wildcard addition to his B-Team for the upcoming CJI2 event, discussed the recent Giles Trials in Australia, and criticized exploitative contract practices in combat sports—specifically targeting “50-50” deals where athletes lose half their purse if they don’t secure a submission.
While the proposed match with Porfirio remains speculative, Jones’ willingness to entertain another intergender exhibition demonstrates his commitment to generating attention for his growing promotion while continuing to push boundaries in the grappling world.
