The internet exploded this week when controversial social media personality Lil Tay issued a bold challenge that surprised the influencer community. The 18-year-old, who first captivated audiences at just nine years old, took to Instagram to call out OnlyFans sensation Sophie Rain with an eye-watering proposition.
In a video shared with her 5.8 million Instagram followers on Tuesday, Lil Tay didn’t mince words. “Sophie Rain, $60 million is what I have for you to fight me in a boxing match,” she declared. “You’re about that money, right? Well this is more money than you’ve ever made off that crusty, dusty, boomer a** life. So put on the gloves and fight me.”
The timing of this challenge is particularly intriguing, coming just one week after Lil Tay made headlines for her controversial debut on OnlyFans. The young influencer, whose real name is Claire Hope, launched her adult content platform on her 18th birthday and reportedly earned over $1 million within the first three hours.
Lil Tay didn’t stop at the monetary offer. She claimed the prospective bout would give Rain a chance to meet her “idol in the ring,” adding with characteristic bravado, “And don’t pretend you’re above it all just because you’re scared I’m gonna beat the brakes off of you.”
The self-proclaimed “youngest flexer of the century” boasted about her preparation, saying, “I’m ready for you. I’ve been training, I’ve been doing spicy boxing training sessions, workouts.” She concluded her challenge by stating she would instruct her manager and lawyers to draft a contract, giving Rain “24 hours to reply.”
Sophie Rain, the 20-year-old OnlyFans top earner and Bop House founder, has yet to respond to the proposition. Rain rose to prominence after reportedly earning $43 million on the platform in a single year, making her one of the highest-earning creators in the industry.
Bop House is a collective of OnlyFans creators that Rain recently departed following an alleged feud with fellow member Camilla Araujo. The timing appears strategic, as Lil Tay has previously disputed claims that she was seeking to join the group, even sharing screenshots showing the Bop House reaching out to her for an “audition.”
Rain also recently announced her retirement from content creation. In a TikTok video posted on July 22, she wrote “Day 1 of me being retired” while sitting in a grassy field, revealing she had purchased a farm with her substantial earnings.
However, Rain’s retirement appears to have been short-lived. Following Lil Tay’s OnlyFans success, Rain posted what seemed to be a direct response on Monday: “Me coming out of retirement after hearing someone is claiming to make more than me.”
This latest controversy adds another chapter to Lil Tay’s already tumultuous public life. The young influencer has faced significant challenges, including a highly publicized death hoax in August 2023 when she was just 14 years old. After disappearing from social media for nearly five years starting in June 2018, both Lil Tay and her brother Jason were falsely declared dead in an Instagram statement.
When she reemerged a month later, Lil Tay made surprising allegations, stating her father Christopher Hope faked her death.
Now, with her recent OnlyFans venture generating both massive profits and public controversy, Lil Tay continues to push boundaries and capture headlines. Her adult content debut has unsettled many longtime fans who have followed her since childhood, raising questions about the trajectory of young influencers in the digital age.
Whether this $60 million challenge will materialize into an actual event remains to be seen.
