Conor McGregor Trashes Jorge Masvidal For ‘Faking Injury’

Conor McGregor opened up regarding a rumor about Jorge Masvidal. Masvidal is alleged to be playing the system – potentially lying about injury to dodge Leon Edwards. Edwards is no joke – but to defeat him offers very little in terms of publicity.

There’s a long history of fighters dodging Edwards. Just look at his tapology.

Masvidal is rumored to be doing this so he can fight Colby Covington because fighting with Covington is likely to bring him more publicity and money – win or lose. Firstly, the fight would be a breeze to market as the two are former teammates – and roommates. One person sharing this suspicion is UFC’s biggest star McGregor.

McGregor was known to be very professional early in his career and has stepped in to a number of fights on late notice. Early in his career – McGregor would fight  a number of replacement opponents. In 2013 Ogle was replaced by Max Holloway. In 2014 Cole Miller bowed out of facing McGregor and was replaced by Diego Brandao. McGregor also had a fight against Rafael Dos Anjos on the books – which quickly turned into a Eddie Alvarez Lightweight title fight.

McGregor also revealed recently that he’d gone on to fight injured for the majority of his career. You can read more about it here.

Conor McGregor took to his Twitter account and started a rant about Masvidal. Before jumping on the topic of Masvidal, McGregor celebrated the very first UFC event that was held on November 12, 1993, in Denver, Colorado.

“It’s crazy that November Twelfth is also the date UFC 1 took place. The very first event. 1993. Some strange, beautiful energy in the air on this date for our sport! Inaugural UFC event! The Inaugural New York City event! The Inaugural UFC Champ Champ crowned! What a day!” Wrote McGregor on his Twitter account.

He then turned back into being notorious by addressing Masvidal, who has a birthday on the same date as UFC 1. McGregor went on to trash Masvidal and say he doesn’t believe about Masvidal’s injury and Masvidal should  fight because he already signed up for it.

“It’s also Jorge Masvidal’s birthday but he’s a b**ch for bottling the fight against Leon. F*ck your “injury”. You sign to fight, you fight. Strip that belt from him that he never even won. H*e in a housecoat. The f*ck was that about as well? Last season’s Versace house coat hahaha wtf!”

Conor McGregor was said to be injured back in July when he entered the octagon to fight Dustin Poirier for the second time in UFC 264 resulting in him having a leg injury. McGregor hasn’t fought since then.
