MMA superstar Conor McGregor and his longtime partner Dee Devlin are reportedly preparing to exchange vows in one of the world’s most sacred locations, with December 12 emerging as the highly anticipated date for their nuptials.
According to sources close to the couple, McGregor and Devlin are planning an intimate Catholic ceremony at the Vatican in Rome, marking the culmination of their relationship that began in Dublin back in 2008 and their engagement that started in August 2020.
The couple initially hoped to wed in the renowned Sistine Chapel, famous for Michelangelo’s breathtaking ceiling frescoes. However, Vatican regulations prohibit wedding ceremonies in that iconic space, leading the pair to consider the Cappella del Caro as an alternative. Located beside St Peter’s Basilica, this chapel can accommodate up to 100 guests.
“Conor and Dee want to get married before Christmas and are planning a wedding at the Vatican in Rome,” a source close to McGregor revealed. “They are both staunch Catholics and it is their dream to wed there. They ideally would like to marry in the Sistine Chapel but it is not allowed so they may have to settle for the Cappella del Caro which can accommodate 100 people beside St Peter’s Basilica. It is all hush hush at the moment but December 12 is the date mentioned so we will have to wait and see.”
Recent sightings of McGregor wearing what appeared to be a wedding band during a promotional appearance in Rome have only intensified speculation about the couple’s marital status. The 37-year-old fighter addressed the rumors directly, referring to Devlin as his “fiancee, wife-to-be soon” during the event.

The timing of their potential wedding coincides with what McGregor describes as a profound spiritual awakening in his life. During his Rome appearance, he spoke candidly about his renewed faith, stating: “I am not here just by chance. There is a higher power, God, that dictates my journey and all of our journeys. I live my life by God’s word, since around the last time you mentioned at the last event, I have engaged on a spiritual journey. I am saved. I am healed.”
This isn’t McGregor’s first public acknowledgment of his religious beliefs. In 2013, he identified himself as a “born-again Christian,” using language drawn from biblical scripture.
McGregor and Devlin’s relationship has endured for nearly 17 years, beginning when the fighter was still an unknown figure pursuing his athletic dreams. Today, with his fortune estimated at over £150 million, Devlin has remained a constant presence through every chapter of his remarkable career trajectory.
The couple has built a family together, raising four children: Conor Jack Jr., born in May 2017; daughter CroÃa, born in January 2019; son RÃan, born in May 2021; and their youngest, Mack, who arrived in November 2023.
During his Rome appearance, McGregor raised a toast to his family, saying: “Now I’m here with my own family, my beautiful children, my fiancee, wife-to-be soon.”
Devlin has stood steadfastly beside McGregor through recent challenges, including legal proceedings that concluded in July when he lost an appeal in a civil case. The Dublin Court of Appeal’s three judges rejected all grounds of his appeal following a November ruling that found him liable and ordered him to pay his accuser Nikita Hand €250,000 plus costs.
On the athletic front, McGregor is eyeing a return to competition at a UFC event planned for next June. His last appearance in the octagon was in 2021, when he faced Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
BKFC president David Feldman expressed optimism about McGregor’s comeback, stating: “You’re going to see the best Conor McGregor you’ve ever seen when he returns to the Octagon.”
McGregor himself appears reinvigorated, declaring: “My competitive spark that was once in my heart is now a roaring blaze. I’m eager. Right now I have to dial myself in and go inward, and that I’ve done, and now I’m in a stage where I come back and show what I’m about.”
